How to Install

Print Instructions

Before you begin your installation:

Read all installation instructions!

• Make sure that you have all tools and hardware needed for installation.

• Check the installation surface (wall, ceiling, or window frame) to ensure that you have suitable fasteners and tools for the material.

• Double check the headrail and shade for proper width and length. If you are installing several sets of shades, be sure to match them with the appropriate window.

• Check the parts list shipped with the product to confirm that you have the correct number of brackets.

Recommended Tools

• Phillips head screwdriver

• Pencil

• Level

• Tape measure

• Safety glasses

• Drill/drill bits (1/16" drill bit may be used to pre-drill for screws)

• 1/4" Wrench (if using extension brackets)

• Hex nutdriver (optional for mounting screws)

• Drywall anchors

Optional Brackets:

Extension Brackets

(Offers clearence for obstructions) Outside mounting extension brackets will brovide 1"-3" clearance between the headrail and mounting surface. Assemble extension bracket as shown. Secure an extension bracket to each standard mounting bracket.

Spacers

Outside mounting spacers will provide an additional 3/8" clearance as shown. If spacers are used, longer screws may be required to ensure a secure installation. Utilize one spacer behind each bracket.

Hold-Down Brackets

(Eliminates Sway) Ideal for doors, hold-down brackets prevent shade from swaying. Assemble as shown to each side of bottomrail.

Side-Mount Brackets

(Ideal for windows below transoms and arches) Alternative mounting method when no frame is available above the window for mounting. Use only if shade dimensions fall within 6" W x 6" L (corded) or 12" W x 12" L (cordless) to a maximum of 48" W x 72" L.

Step 1A
Mark the bracket locations - outside mount installation (installation outside window casing)

• Measure headrail width.

• End brackets should be approximately 1"-2" in from each end of the headrail. Space any remaining brackets evenly across the headrail, no more than 30" apart.NOTE: Ensure that bracket placement will not interfere with any components inside the headrail.

• With a pencil, mark the mounting screw locations through the rear holes of the bracket, 2 per bracket. Use a level to ensure bracket alignment.

• Go to Step 2.

Step 1B
Mark the bracket locations - inside mount installation (installation inside window casing)

• Verify that window casing has a minimum depth of 5/8" for corded and 1/2" for cordless shades.

• Place the bracket on the inside top of the window frame, 1"-2" in from the ends. Space any remaining brackets evenly across the proposed headrail location, no more than 30" apart.

• If flush mount is desired, place the bracket 2-1/4" back from the inside top of the window frame.

• With a pencil, mark the drill hole locations through the top holes of the bracket, 2 per bracket.

• Go to Step 2.

Step 2A
Install the brackets - outside mount installation (installation outside window casing)

• Using pencil marks as a guide, start the screw hole by pre-drilling (wood and metal mounting surfaces only).

• Hold bracket with surface marked "top" facing up. Holding bracket in place, secure with screws, 2 per bracket.

• Repeat for each bracket.

• Use a level to confirm brackets are level.

Example: Installation on drywall using drywall anchors and included screws.

Step 2B
Install the brackets - inside mount installation (installation inside window casing)

• Using pencil marks as a guide, start the screw hole by pre-drilling (wood and metal mounting surfaces only).

• Hold bracket with surface marked "top" facing up. Holding bracket in place, secure with screws, 2 per bracket.

• Repeat for each bracket.

• Make sure brackets are square with each other.

Example: Installation on a wood window frame using the included screws.

Step 3A
Install shade on brackets

Corded Shades/Angles/Specialty Shapes

• Hook the rear lip of the headrail on the mounting bracket spring tab.

• While pushing back against the bracket, rotate the front of the headrail upward to engage the top locking tab of the mounting bracket. The shade will easily snap onto the bracket.

• CAUTION: Be sure the bracket and headrail are properly secured before operating the shade.

To remove the shade: While pushing back on the headrail, rotate the front of the headrail down. Never force the spring tab beyond the back of the bracket.

See 3B for installing cordless shades or continuous cordloop shades

Step 3B
Install shade on brackets

Cordless/Continuous Cordloop Shades

• Hang the curved front side of the headrail on front lip of brackets.

• Rotate headrail backward toward window until a snapping sound is heard. This will let you know that the shade is engaged into brackets.

• CAUTION: Be sure that the bracket and headrail are properly secured before operating the shade.

• Use included hex-head screw (#8 X 1-1/4" long) to secure the shu-clip (attached to cordloop) to mounting surface, ensuring that the cordloop is taut.

To remove headrail from bracket: Insert flat head screwdriver into square opening on bracket tab. Push backward to disengage tab from headrail.

Step 4
Install decorative drapery hardware valance (optional)

• Hook the valance on the front of the headrail and rotate downward until all snaps engage under the headrail.

• Screw the finials into the holes at each end of the valance.

Installing Arch and Half Arch Shades

Movable Arches

Step 1
Install the mounting track

• Position the mounting track in the desired mounting location. If necessary, trim the ends of the mounting track with heavy scissors.

• Secure the mounting rail to the mounting surface with the provided #6 screws. Start 1/2" in from each end, and space remaining mounting screws evenly between the ends, not more than 12" apart.

Note: Depending on the mounting surface, you may need to predrill 1/16" pilot holes, or use additional drywall anchors (not included).

Step 2
Insall the fabric pack on the carrier rail

• Starting at one end of the carrier rail, slide the lead carrier onto the rail. The lead carrier should be at the end that you want the shade to fully close, with the knob facing away from the window opening.

• Slide the remaining carriers onto the carrier rail.

Step 3
Attach the carrier rail

• Hook the flange of the carrier rail under the lip on the mounting track.

• Snap the other side of the carrier rail into the mounting track to secure it in place. If necessary, trim the ends of the mounting track with heavy scissors.

Step 4
Install the valance rail

• Holding the fabric pack out of the way, center the valance rail inside the mounting track, making sure it is centered left to right and front to back.

• Secure in place with #6 mounting screws, with one at each end and spacing the remaining screws evenly along the length of the valance rail.

• Tuck the end of the fabric pack WITHOUT the lead carrier down into the valance rail, making sure the fabric folds properly into the valance rail.

Example: Installation on a wood window frame using the included screws.

Step 5
Fan the shade open

• Using the knob on the lead carrier, fan the shade open to ensure smooth movement.

• The other end of the shade should remain seated in valance rail, with the fabric and carriers spaced evenly along the length of the arch.

Stationary Arches

Step 1A
Mark the bracket locations (installation inside window casing)

• Divide the number of brackets evenly for use on the horizontal (arch and half arch) and vertical (half arch only) window casing sections.

• Verify that window casing has a minimum depth of 5/8".

• Place the bracket on the inside bottom of the window frame 2" in from each end of the casing (both vertical and horizontal headrail for half arch). Space any remaining brackets evenly across the headrail, no more than 30" apart.

• With a pencil, mark the mounting hole locations through the bottom holes of the bracket, two per bracket. Use a level to ensure bracket alignment.

• Go to Step 2A.

Step 1B
Mark the bracket locations—outside mount installation (installation outside window casing)

• Divide the number of brackets evenly for use on the horizontal (arch and half arch) and vertical (half arch only) headrail.

• Determine the width and height (half arch only) of your shade.

• End brackets should be approximately 2" in from each end of the headrail (both vertical and horizontal headrail for half arch). Space any remaining brackets evenly across the headrail(s).

• With a pencil, mark the drill hole locations through the rear holes of the bracket, two per bracket. Use a level to ensure bracket alignment.

• Go to Step 2B.

Step 2A
Install the brackets—inside mount installation (installation inside window casing)

• Using pencil marks as a guide, drill 1/16" pilot holes (wood and metal mounting surfaces only).

• Holding bracket in place, secure with screws, two per bracket.

• Repeat for each bracket, making sure that brackets are square with each other.

• Go to Step 3.

• Repeat for each bracket.

• Use a level to confirm brackets are level and square.

• Go to Step 3.

Arch Shade

Step 3
Install the shade on bracket

• Remove the rubber bands and fan open the shade.

• Install the center insert by placing it in the center of the headrail where the center hole of the shade will be.

• Slide the spine holding the shade fabric into the opposite end of the channel on the headrail.

• Press the end caps into the headrail ends until they are fully seated. Hook the rear lip of the headrail under the spring tab on the mounting brackets, then press the headrail back toward the window until the headrail locks into the brackets.

• Arrange the fabric for best appearance.

• Go to Step 4.

Half Arch Shade

Step 3
Install the shade on bracket

• Install the vertical headrail in position first.

• Fan open the shade.

• Slide the spine holding the shade fabric into the channel of the vertical headrail.

• Press the end caps into the headrail ends until they are fully seated.

• Hook the rear lip of the headrail under the spring tab on the mounting brackets, then press the headrail back toward the window until the headrail locks into the brackets.

• Arrange the fabric for best appearance.

• Go to Step 4.

Step 4
Install T-pins

• Metal arch T-pins are provided to hold fabric in position.

• Choose T-pin position based on whether the shades are installed inside or outside the window casing.

• Install the arch T-pins at regular intervals across the upper portion of the shade. Use clock positions (10, 11, 12, 1, 2) as a reference.

• Firmly press pin through the shade fabric and into the mounting surface. Note pin position shown in drawing.

• Tie cord on the T-pin in the 12o’clock position.

How to Measure

Print Instructions
Measure For Inside Mounting

Measuring For Inside Mount Shades

  • Step 1

    Find Width

Measure exact distance between inside surfaces of window frame at the top middle, and bottom, and use the narrowest width. Do not make any width deductions. The factory will automatically deduct 3/8".

  • Step 2

    Find Height

Measure exact distance from where top of shade will be located to top of sill. If there is no sill or if shade is to overlap window frame, measure to point shade is to reach.

    Minimum Mounting Depth *
      Custom Order
    Cordless Shades 1/2"
    Standard Shades 5/8"
*Minimum mounting depth is the depth required, in the window frame, for the blind to be
    mounted inside mount.

Measure For Outside Mounting

Measuring For Outside Mount Shades

  • Step 1

    Find Width

Measure exact distance between the outermost points where the shade is to be placed. This measurement should overlap each side of window frame by at least 1 1/2". Factory makes no deduction from your shade width dimensions.

  • Step 2

    Find Height

Measure exact distance from where top of shade will be located to top of sill. If there is no sill or if shade is to overlap window frame, measure to point shade is to reach.

    Allow Some Overlap
For outside mount applications allow the blind to overlap 1 1/2" to 3" on the sides, top and bottom
    of the window.
