Offers a clean, finished profile across all your windows without dangling cords.

Cordless Top Down/Bottom Up

For a clean appearance free of dangling cords, this shade can be lowered from the top or raised from the bottom. The shade is measured in the same way as a standard shade. The shade is shipped with two handles to raise and lower it. A Classic Valance is included at no additional charge.

Top Down/Bottom Up

The shade can be lowered from the top and raised from the bottom. Separate controls on each side of the shade control the rails independently. The shade is measured in the same way as a standard shade. A Classic Valance is included at no additional charge.

Continuous Cordloop

Perfect for large windows. Eliminates dangling cords. Cords remain at the same position regardless of shade position.

2-on-1 Headrail

An excellent choice for covering wide windows or double windows. Two shades operate independently on the same headrail.

Valance Options

Kirsch Roman Shades come standard with a sleek metal Integrated Valance in colors that coordinate to the shade fabric. You may also upgrade to a Classic Valance, made of the same fabric as the shade, for a more traditional look.

How to Install

Print Instructions

Before you begin your installation:

Read all installation instructions!

• Make sure that you have all tools and hardware needed for installation.

• Check the installation surface (wall, ceiling, or window frame) to ensure that you have suitable fasteners and tools for the material.

• Double check the headrail and shade for proper width and length. If you are installing several sets of shades, be sure to match them with the appropriate window.

• Check the parts list shipped with the product to confirm that you have the correct number of brackets.

Recommended Tools

• Phillips head screwdriver

• Pencil

• Level

• Tape measure

• Safety glasses

• Drill/drill bits (1/16" drill bit may be used to pre-drill for screws)

• 1/4" Wrench (if using extension brackets)

• Hex nutdriver (optional for mounting screws)

• Drywall anchors

Inside Mount Installation

Installation inside window casing.

Corded Models

Step 1
Mark the bracket locations

 

• Verify that window casing has a minimum depth of 5/8.”

• If flush-mount is desired, place the brackets 2-1/4” recessed inside the top of the window frame.

• Place the bracket on the inside top of the window frame, 2” in from the ends. Space any remaining brackets evenly across the window frame, no more than 30” apart.

• With a pencil, mark two drill hole locations through the top holes of the bracket.

Step 2
Install the brackets

 

• On wood and metal surfaces, pre-drill the screw holes using the pencil marks as a guide.

• Install bracket with surface marked “top” facing up. Secure each bracket with two screws per bracket, ensuring brackets are square with each other.

• Attach the tension device (cord/chain control only). Refer to instructions in the hold-down tension device.

NOTE: Two mounting screws are provided per bracket.

Step 3
Install Valance

 

• Align the holes in the valance rail with the holes in the top of the headrail.

• Press the push fasteners fully into the holes to secure the valance in place.

Step 4
Install shade on brackets

 

• Hook the rear lip of the headrail on the mounting bracket spring tab (valance not shown).

• While pushing back against the bracket, rotate the front of the headrail upward to engage the top locking tab of the mounting bracket. The shade will easily snap onto the bracket.

TO REMOVE THE SHADE: While pushing back on the headrail, rotate the front of the headrail down. Never force the spring tab beyond the back of the bracket.

Cordless/Continuous Cordloop Models

Step 1
Mark the bracket locations

 

• Verify that window casing has a minimum depth of 1/2.”

Step 3
Install valance

 

• Hook the top of the valance over the top lip of the headrail.

• Carefully press the valance down and back against the headrail until the valance clips into place.

Step 4
Install the brackets

 

• Hang the curved front side of the headrail on front lip of brackets (valance not shown).

• Rotate headrail backward toward window until a snapping sound is heard. This will let you know that the shade is engaged into brackets.

TO REMOVE HEADRAIL FROM BRACKET: Insert flat head screwdriver into square opening on bracket tab. Push backward to disengage tab from headrail.

Outside Mount Installation

Corded Models

Step 1
Mark the bracket locations

 

• Measure headrail width.

• End brackets should be approximately 2” in from each end of the headrail. Space any remaining brackets evenly across the headrail, no more than 30” apart.

• With a pencil, mark the mounting screw locations through the rear holes of the bracket, two per bracket. Use a level to ensure bracket alignment.

Step 2
Install the brackets

 

• Using pencil marks as a guide, start the screw holes by pre-drilling (wood and metal mounting surfaces only).

• Hold bracket with surface marked “top” facing up. Holding bracket in place, secure with screws, two per bracket.

• Repeat for each bracket.

• Use a level to confirm brackets are level.

Example: Installation on drywall using drywall anchors (not included) and included screws.

• Attach the tension device (cord/chain control only). Refer to instructions in the hold-down tension device.

NOTE: Two mounting screws are provided per bracket.

Step 3
Install valance

 

NOTE: Valance returns are self-supporting and do not require additional installation.

• Align the holes in the valance rail with the holes in the top of the headrail.

• Press the push fasteners fully into the holes to secure the valance in place.

• Use provided hook and loop fastener to attach valance returns to the headrail.

Step 4
Install shade on brackets

 

• Hook the rear lip of the headrail on the mounting bracket spring tab (valance not shown).

• While pushing back against the bracket, rotate the front of the headrail upward to engage the top locking tab of the mounting bracket. The shade will easily snap onto the bracket.

TO REMOVE THE SHADE: While pushing back on the headrail, rotate the front of the headrail down. Never force the spring tab beyond the back of the bracket.

Cordless/Continuous Cordloop Models

Step 1

Install valance

 

• Hook the top of the valance over the top lip of the headrail.

• Carefully press the valance down and back against the headrail until the valance clips into place.

• Clip the returns (on some models) onto the headrail endcaps once the front of the valance is in place.

NOTE: Continuous cordloop models will not include returns.

Step 4
Install the shade on the brackets

 

• Hang the curved front side of the headrail on front lip of brackets (valance not shown).

• Rotate headrail backward toward window until a snapping sound is heard. This will let you know that the shade is engaged into brackets.

Measure For Inside Mounting

Measuring For Inside Mount Shades

  • Step 1

    Find Width

    Measure exact distance between inside surfaces of window frame at the top middle, and bottom, and use the narrowest width. Do not make any width deductions. Factory will automatically deduct 3/8" from fabric width.

  • Step 2

    Find Height

    Measure exact distance from inside surface at top of window to sill. If you prefer shade not to touch sill, deduct 1/4". If there is no sill, measure height to point where shade is to reach.

*Minimum mounting depth is the depth required, in the window frame, for the blind to be mounted inside mount.

 

 

Measure For Outside Mounting

Measuring For Outside Mount Shades

  • Step 1

    Find Width

    Measure exact distance between the outermost points where the shade is to be placed. This measurement should overlap each side of window frame by at least 1-1/2". Factory makes no deduction from your shade width dimensions.

  • Step 2

    Find Height

    Measure exact distance from where top of shade will be located to top of sill. If there is no sill or if shade is to overlap window frame, measure to point shade is to reach.

    Allow Some Overlap
    For outside mount applications allow the blind to overlap 1-1/2" to 3" on the sides, top and bottom of the window.

 

 

Measuring For Multiple Shades on One Headrail

  • Step 1

    Inside Mount

    Overall Shade Width - Measure the window's width at the top, middle, and bottom. Order the narrowest measurement.

  • Step 2


    Left Shade Width - Measure the width that you want the left shade to cover.

  • Step 3


    Right Shade Width - Measure the width that you want the right shade to cover.

  • Step 4


    Height - Measure the window from the top to the bottom for the desired height.

  • Step 5


    Order the left shade first when placing the order.

Notes

  1. There will be a 1/2" gap between the fabric on the left and right shade to allow for shades to operate independently.
  2. The left shade width, plus the right shade width must equal the overall shade width.
  3. Corded Top Down/Bottom Up not available.

 

  • Step 1

    Outside Mount

    Overall Shade Width - Measure the desired width. For maximum privacy and window coverage, add an additional 3" to total width of window.

  • Step 2

     

    Left Shade Width - Measure the width that you want the left shade to cover.

  • Step 3

     

    Right Shade Width - Measure the width that you want the right shade to cover. The left shade width, plus the right shade width must equal the overall shade width.

  • Step 4

     

    Height - Measure the window from the top to the bottom for the desired height. For maximum privacy and window coverage, add at least 3" to overall height of the window.

  • Step 5

     

    Order the left shade first when placing the order.

Notes

  1. There will be a 1/2" gap between the fabric on the left and right shade to allow for shades to operate independently.
  2. For standard shades, controls will be located on the left side of the left shade and the right side of the right shade.
  3. Fabrics cannot be seamed or overlapped.
